Last photo of the week for 2008...Happy New Years!!

Well, we made it a whole year!! I have posted app. 52 photos this year and I hope that you have found something in at least one or two that inspired you or made you smile. Some of them are on this site and others are here. This last photo of the week was taken yesterday on the slopes of Boreal. I haven't skied in many, many years and it was such a thrill to "barrel" down the hills (not very graceful, I may add). I love that this young kid had this on his snowboard. I am by no means pushing religion on anyone so please take no offense.. I wish all of you a Happy New Year! Take care, be kind, and remember to try to find the positive out of the negative... xoxo

angel

When I was little, my dad would drive us past the cemeteries in Daly City and bet us $100 that we wouldn't be able to walk through there at night. He was only teasing, but the thought would terrify me. As I got older, the cemetery became a place for me and my friends to hang out. We liked the solitude and the peacefulness.
Yesterday my 13 yr old son and I headed out in the rain to photograph some of the statues. He was a little nervous about being there, having seen a few zombie movies in the past. For his sake, we kept it to a short visit and kept the motor running in the car just in case...

photo of the week

This is one spirited young girl who won my heart in about 2 seconds flat. She is the sweetest baby ever and was so well behaved. She had some friends with her, 2 cats and a pretty good sized lizard and they all got along. The cats weren't very cooperative (hah, go figure!) but she was just the best...

open studios

Today was the last day for the Open Studios event in Pacifica. I can not tell you how great it was to be among the many talented artists that were showing their stuff there. I was terrified to put my stuff on the walls let alone sit there all weekend and watch people look at it (or ignore it, not sure which would be worse). Everyone was very supportive and it was a great atmosphere to have this as my first big outing. I even sold a few pieces and a few bags! My dad and brother came to see me and my art and that was awesome! My niece was there too, which was really cool. Also, my hubby and boys were there on the first night and a few of my buds came as well..I am feeling very blessed right now.

photo of the week

This past Sunday I did some pet and family photography at Coastside Critters in Pacifica. This little guy, TK --aka the "traveling salesman"-- was my first client. He earned his nickname from me because everytime he was put into his "spot" to be photographed by the time I put my camera to my eye he was gone! That is my hand in the photo holding him, and yes, he isn't the handsomest dog on the block I know, but ya gotta love the little guy anyway!!

photo of the week

Hi, last week I went to Occidental with a gal friend of mine and we had a nice drive to Bodega Bay where "the Birds" was filmed. This is the church where the birds attacked people and behind it is the school. The other photo was taken down by the water, a fisherman dumped some chum into the water and the birds were in a frenzy! A little unsettling.....

In my own backyard

For some reason or other I woke up the other morning close to 7am and instead of rolling over and going back to sleep, I got out of bed. For those that dont know me as well, I am not a morning person and prefer the other side of 10am as my rising time. The morning was overcast and there was a "wet blanket" spread over my backyard. The light was perfectly even and I could tell that it wouldn't last long. I grabbed my camera and explored my yard and this is what I found....

Color Guards

Taking photos of action is a lot harder than it seems. One can not just stay still and wait for the shot to come. You have to give chase, keep the camera to your eye and do not get distracted.. like I said, easier said than done. This weeks photo is of Terra Nova's color guard team. I was asked to come out and take some photos, candid and posed, of a clients daughter and some of her teammates. I thought, "no problem, how hard can that be?"... HA! Those girls move and twirl and march, not to mention the blinding lights behind them. This is one of my "failed" attempts, which I found to be interesting and thought I would share...

photo of the week

The weather is getting colder and wetter and flowers and sunshine are a not so distant memory. This beauty was in full bloom just last week! I hadn't seen one this color before and looking at it reminded me of both summer and fall. I hope that you enjoy this as well and that it reminds you of a warm sunny day! Stay dry...

Halloween is coming....

Happy early Halloween!! This is my FAVORITE time of the year. All the colors, the kids in costumes, (me too!!) the warm days - this is the best time of year to live in Pacifica.. I LOve it!
This pumpkin was sitting all alone on top of the hay bale, just waiting for me to snap a photo of it. Lucky me. Have a great Halloween!! Be Good.....

Pismo Beach

On our way to Disneyland we took a detour to Pismo beach. It is legal to drive on the beach-- all we had to do was pay $5. I was a little worried that we might get stuck but I shouldn't have worried, behind us in line was a Honda. It was pretty thrilling being that close to the water in our Yukon. Photo of the Week

I had the opportunity to meet this fantastic couple, David and Nydia, over the weekend as I photographed their wedding. Their story is one found only in fairy tales or in a Disney movie. The first time they met it was love at first sight and they have been inseparable ever since. I think that this photo shows the devotion and sheer joy that these two share with each other...

Fairfax

I went to Fairfax over the weekend to visit a good friend. I have to tell you what a cool little town it is. My friend described it right... "Haight St. without the riff raff." This is just one of the photos that came home with me... to view past photos of the week click here

photo of the week

These two girls were nice enough to let me take their picture (with permission from their moms and two tickets for the giant slide as payment!!) The face painting lady did an awesome job with many kids walking around looking like something out of the Broadway musical, Cats..

lets get with it

It seems like everyone in the profession (photography) has a blog, a brand, a studio... what does this mean for me, someone who hates to be told what to do and how to do it??? Conformity has always sent me in the other direction, but here I am picking up where I left myself last-- coming home from Australia.. geez, it was almost two years ago.. I am not even sure anyone is going to read this. And, if so, to what purpose will this serve? We shall see...
